In 2014 O’Brien Group Australia beat of a field of prominent Australian leisure competitors to secure a 25 year lease for the exclusive venue management rights of O'Brien Group Arena.
Our commitment to the venue and the enjoyment of our visitors has led us to embark on a significant rejuvenation of the arena which includes state-of-the-art ice resurfacing machinery, major redevelopment of the interior architecture and design as well as the implementation of more efficient management systems.
The venue is Australia’s premier ice experience located in Melbourne’s Docklands amongst the city’s other greatest sporting and cultural icons; it has become one of Australia’s distinct symbols of sportsmanship and excellence.
O'Brien Group Arena is a world-class facility attracting the best ice sports competitors from around Australia to train and compete in our Olympic standard arena. The arena also serves as the long-term home of the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia.
With our decades of venue management experience and our dedication to upholding the original vision of Andrew Shelton and the other founding members, including Geoff Henke, the venue will continue to be the beating heart of ice sports in Australia.
The Imperial is a 2-storey brick-and-bluestone building first built in 1858 and stands on a 450 square metre site directly across from the Victorian Parliament in Spring Street. It is a classic Melbourne building and has long been a famous watering hole for politicians, journalists, artists and business people.
The Imperial celebrates the essence of Melbourne, without being cemented in tradition; it is a living reference to Melbourne’s glory days. There are few other buildings in the Melbourne CBD with such a rich history and story to tell.
Purchased in May 2015 by O'Brien Group Australia today the venue is leased to the Open Door Pub Company.

Eden Park, New Zealand's largest, stadium has a capacity of 50,000.
